Spain data watchdog fines Jazztel subcontractors for unsolicited calls

Spain's data protection agency (AEPD) has fined two marketing companies contracted by Jazztel a total of EUR 60,000 for unsolicited customer calls, reports El Pais. The watchdog fined 'Crosseling Operadores 3.9' and 'Global Telemarketing Solutions' a total of EUR 30,000 each for breaching provisions of the Telecommunications Act intended to prevent aggressive telemarketing. Specifically, the companies were accused making cold calls to users who had expressly opted out of receiving such calls by signing up to the so-called 'Lista Robinson'.
