Spain decides to hold on to public payphones

Telefonica will be required to maintain public phone booths in Spain from 2019, after the Spanish government decided to not remove the universal service obligation. People familiar with the matter told news agency Efe that the government is set to approve a royal decree before year-end that would get rid of the phone directories and number inquiry service, but maintain phone booths.
