Spain launches connected schools initiative in Balearic Islands

Spain's ICT development agency Red.es has announced that the Balearic Islands is the latest autonomous community to sign a collaboration agreement to take part in the government's plan to bring high-speed broadband to all Spanish schools. As part of the deal, nearly 119,000 pupils in around 320 state-funded primary and secondary schools in the Balearic Islands will benefit from the 'Connected Schools' programme, receiving internet access at speeds of up to 1Gbps in a total investment of EUR 5.6 million.
