Spain's communications regulator CNMC has fined DTS (Telefonica), Orange and Multicanal Iberia a total of EUR 2.2 million for breaches of the requirement to fund European audiovisual works. Under Spain's Audiovisual Communication Law, operators that broadcast TV channels are required to set aside 5 percent of their operating revenue to fund European films and series. However, the three operators were found guilty of failing to pay the required amount in the years 2012 (all three) and 2013 (DTS). As a result, DTS was fined EUR 1.59 million, Multicanal Iberia EUR 506,000 and Orange EUR 101,000.
