Spain regulator notifies EC of 45% cut to wholesale rates

Spain's communications and competition regulator CNMC has notified the European Commission and Spanish industry and economic ministries of its proposal to cut the wholesale tariffs payable to the former incumbent Telefonica for indirect access to its broadband network by around 45 percent. The regulator launched a public consultation process on its plans on 30 March, specifying that the proposal would involve cutting the monthly price per capacity for access to Telefonica's copper network from EUR 14.56 (best effort), EUR 16.89 (gold) and EUR 19.07 (real time) to EUR 8.07, EUR 9.36 and EUR
