Spain regulator to investigate Antena 3-LaSexta merger

Wednesday 27 May 2015 | 14:59 CET | News
Spain's communications regulator CNMC has launched a probe into Atresmedia's merger of channels Antena 3 and La Sexta on the grounds that the broadcaster may have breached some of the antitrust conditions imposed on the company by the now defunct CNC back in July 2012. According to the regulator, Atresmedia may have breached some of the conditions regarding acquisition of content and may have offered discounts for advertising on the two channels in exchange for investing an agreed amount in other Atresmedia group channels. The CNMC will report back with its findings within six months.
