Spain to launch new DTT tender in 2015

Spain's industry ministry has submitted a DTT reallocation plan to the Telecommunications and Information Society Advisory Council (Catsi) detailing the need to launch a tender for 30 percent of the country's private TV frequencies. The announcement follows the closure of 9 DTT channels on 06 May (La Sexta 3, Xplora, Nitro, La Siete, Nueve, MTV, Intereconomia, AXN and Marca TV) after the Supreme Court ruled that the award of the licences in 2010 without a public tender was unlawful. The switch off reduced the number of DTT channels in Spain by 37.5 percent, from 24 to 15. In its statement,
