Spanish technology company Lleida.net, a specialist in secure messaging, has officially become an SMS and fixed telephony operator in the Dominican Republic after being granted a 5-year licence by the country’s telecommunications watchdog Indotel. The licence means Lleida.net’s subsidiary Lleidanet Dominicana can now sign new interconnection agreements with Dominican operators and strengthen its certification, contracting and notification services in the Caribbean region as a whole.

Globally, the operator already has agreements with more than 1,500 companies in 150 countries, including the Caribbean as well as Colombia and Argentina in Latin America. Lleida.net provides services to banks, insurance companies, energy companies and other telecommunications companies throughout the region and has recently hired sales staff in Peru, Colombia and Mexico.
