Spanish consumer body denounces 902 number fraud

Spain's consumer protection authority, FACUA, has submitted a report to a number of bodies, including Spain's telecoms regulator, CNMC, denouncing the use of special rate numbers with the 902 prefix for lucrative ends. Under Spanish legislation, numbers beginning with 902 must be used for information and customer service purposes only and not for lucrative ends. However, FACUA has reported 16 telecoms service providers that offer the possibility of contracting 902 numbers to make money from each call.
