Spanish FTTH subs up 155,000 to 4.5 mln in October

Tuesday 20 December 2016 | 10:12 CET | News
Spain added a further 155,180 FTTH lines in October to reach a total of 4.5 million connections, according to the latest report from communications regulator CNMC. The rise in fibre-optic broadband connections and the 20,868 increase in the number of HFC lines more than offset the 99,662 decline in the number of DSL lines in October. In fact, DSL connections have fallen by a total of 1.4 million over the past 12 months, compared to a 1.8 million rise in FTTH lines. Telefonica currently dominates the FTTH sector, with 2.9 million lines, or 63.1 percent of the total.
