Spanish pay-TV subs to soar by 47% in next 5 years

The Spanish pay-TV market is set to post a 47.2 percent increase in subscriber numbers over the next five years, according to the latest Global Entertainment and Media Outlook report from PwC. The total number of pay-TV households will surge from 6.7 million to around 10 million in absolute terms by 2022, with revenues rising 4.1 percent to EUR 2 billion, driven by TV and video streaming platforms, reports Palco23. In that regard, OTT platforms such as Netflix, HBO and Amazon Prime will continue to grow steadily, with annual revenues rising from EUR 142 million this year to EUR 234 million
