The Spanish PC market posted its third consecutive quarter of growth in the October to December period, climbing 3.4 percent year on year on the back of shipments of 968,000 units, reports business daily Cinco Dias, citing the latest estimates from IDC Spain. As a result, total shipments for 2017 came to 3.4 million, up 4.6 percent year on year, driven by ever-urgent Windows 10 migration, security concerns and an uptick in public sector investment.

In terms of vendors, HP continued to dominate the Spanish market with 33.2 percent of shipments on the back of 1.12 million sales in 2017, some 12 points ahead of its nearest competitor Lenovo, with 24.4 percent of the market and sales of 823,500, up from 676,700 a year earlier. Asus is now in third place after its sales plummeted by 32 percent year on year to 329,900 and 9.8 percent of the market, closely followed by Apple with 313,800 sales and a 9.3 percent share and Acer with 303,700 sales and 9.0 percent of the market.
