Spanish telcos to pay EUR 12 mln for 2013 universal service

Spain's telecommunications regulator CNMC has ordered Telefonica Moviles, Vodafone and Orange to pay a total of EUR 12.1 million for the universal service provision corresponding to 2013. Telefonica Moviles has been required to pay EUR 4.73 million, Vodafone EUR 3.91 million and Orange the remaining EUR 3.49 million. The universal service fund is used to deliver telecommunications services to those living in isolated neighborhoods, the disabled, consumers entitled to tariff reductions and information services.
