Spanish universal service cost EUR 21 mln in 2012 - CNMC

Spain's telecoms regulator CNMC has announced that the country's universal service provision cost EUR 21.4 million in 2012, around 33 percent less than the previous year, even though it included 1 Mbps broadband for the first time. The universal service fund is used to deliver telecommunications services to those living in isolated neighborhoods, the disabled, consumers entitled to tariff reductions and information services.
