Sport TV fined EUR 3.7 mln by competition regulator

Thursday 20 June 2013 | 17:05 CET | News
Portuguese pay-TV broadcaster Sport TV has received a fine of EUR 3.7 million from Competition Authority (AdC) for abuse of its dominant position, following a complaint by cable TV operator Cabovisao in 2009. At issue was the minimum carriage fee charged operators by Sport TV, based on the penetration of the pay-TV operators. According to the regulator body, the system used by Sport TV penalized certain operators, disadvantaging them compared to competitors.
