Spot, a wholly owned subsidiary of Globalstar and provider of satellite messaging and emergency notification technologies, has announced a new Spot Global Phone, a portable, data-enabled satellite phone. The Spot Global Phone features satellite-based technology, superior voice clarity with no noticeable delay or echo, backlit colour display optimised for outdoor daytime viewing, four hours of talk time and 36 hours of standby, data capabilities enabling email and file transfers, online activation, ten-digit dialling with local phone numbers, and 911 emergency access. Qualcomm-based CDMA
