Spotify to increase Mexico rates following tax hike

Wednesday 19 August 2020 | 11:33 CET | News
Spotify has followed other OTT providers including Netflix by announcing plans to increase the cost of its plans in Mexico to reflect the government's new value-added tax. The 16 percent VAT on over-the-top (OTT) providers of digital services was approved last year and came into force on 01 June, prompting the music provider to hike the price of its Individual Plan from MXN 99 to MXN 115 a month, the Duo Plan from MXN 129 to MXN 149, the Family Plan from MXN 149 to MXN 170 and the Student Plan from MXN 49 to MXN 57.
