State Council upholds Canal-TPS ruling, but reduces fine

France's State Council has upheld nearly all of the sanctions imposed by the the Competition Authority on pay TV operator Canal Plus for failing to respect conditions for its acquisition of its rival TPS. The move follows the recommendations of its rapporteur, which suggested lowering the EUR 30 million fine because "two of the ten breaches found by the Competition Authority were unfounded". The State Council has imposed a fine of EUR 27 million.
