Stockholm council to use excess data centre heat for homes

Wednesday 25 January 2017 | 13:06 CET | News
Excess heat from data centres in Stockholm will be used to heat homes across the city, according to an article on the Silicon Republic website. The City of Stockholm is tying up with Fortum Varme, Ellevio, Stokab and Invest Stockholm to funnel excess heat back into a 'heat sink; that can then be distributed to the city's municipal heating system. A data centre with 10 MW capacity can heat around 20,000 modern residential apartments, the article said.
