Straight-to-video offers earlier VoD window in France

Abel Ferrara's new film, "Welcome to New York", with Gerard Depardieu in the role of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, will not be shown in cinema to avoid a 10 month delay before it can be watched on VoD, 01net reports. Co-producer Vincent Maraval explained that by going straight to video, the film will be able to advertise on TV, which is forbidden for cinema releases. It will also be advertised on the home pages of major internet platforms, iTunes, Free and Orange for 10 days.
