STS tests AML-based localisation of calls to 112 from Android phones in Bucharest-Ilfov area

Romania's Special Telecommunications Service (STS) launched a pilot in the Bucharest-Ilfov area during which 112 calls from Android phones are located using advanced mobile location (AML) technology. The test started on 15 January and will take place until the end of the month. STS together with local mobile operators completed the configuration and testing activities of the system architecture for the retrieval and provision to the 'Unique national system for emergency calls (SNUAU)' of AML-based advanced location information.
