Sub-Saharan Africa loses USD 2 bln to internet shutdowns in 2019

Sub-Saharan Africa lost more than USD 2 billion in economic value in 2019 after deliberate government action to shut down the internet for more than 7,800 hours, according to a report by Top10VPN, building on work by internet freedom watchdog Netblocks and advocacy group The Internet Society, and published by ITWeb.
