Sweden coordinates excavation to make broadband cheaper

The Swedish Broadband Forum, which brings together public and private stakeholders in the sector, said the government has proposed a draft law to reduce the costs of fibre expansion. It said excavation costs account for a large portion of the total cost of broadband development. The draft law aims to lower the cost of fixed and wireless broadband, among other things by eradicating the same stretches of road or pavement being dug up by one operator after another for different work.
