Swedish data protection authority extends probe of medical helpline leaks

The Swedish Data Protection Authority said it has extended its probe of alleged leaks at central medical information service 1177 Vardguiden to Inera. Recent media reports have claimed that a large number of recorded phone calls to the service had gone online and were freely accessible, with no password protection. The authority said it will examine whether Inera deals with private information concerning medical advice given via phone and if it does, what Inera's role is in handling the data.
