Swedish dialling codes could lose geographic significance

Swedish postal and telecoms regulator PTS said there could be an end to local dialling codes under its numbering plan recommendation, enabling users to take their phone number with them when they relocate to another area. It said the Swedish number scheme is out of date because of changes to technology and society, and could limit the development of new services in some cases. Under its proposal, the same series of digits could also be used for both mobile and fixed telephony.
