Swedish government tells highways agency to improve broadband construction along roadways

The Swedish Government Office said the government has now formally ordered highways agency Trafikverket to produce a model for laying broadband lines along rural roads and to foster the execution of the state's aim for 95 percent of homes and businesses to have access to 100 Mbps internet service by 2020. Earlier this month, telecoms regulator PTS told the government that one of the biggest hurdles was Trafikverket's principles for broadband development along roads in outlying areas.
