Swedish govt report says data retention should continue

Tele2 Sweden said it is critical of a report issued by the Swedish government, saying that data retention is compliant with Swedish law. The report was presented by Sten Heckscher, a lawyer commissioned by the government to look into data retention rules, after the European Court of Justice declared the European Data Directive invalid in April 2014. The report concluded that telecommunications operations can still be required to store customer data for possible submission to law enforcement agencies upon request for the purpose of fighting crime. Tele2 said the report dismisses the question
