Swedish metro association says change to network localisation rule could connect 150,000 more premises

Friday 3 April 2020 | 14:11 CET | News
Municipal broadband networks would be able to bring 150,000 more residences and businesses online were the government to change the localisation rule, according to a survey by metro network association SSNf. Broadband growth is slowing and the rate almost halved in 2019 compared with five years before, according to figures from regulator PTS. Under the localisation principle, local councils may not run broadband operations outside their own municipal boundaries.
