Swedish watchdog mulls changing rules to let metro networks expand up to 80 km from home borough

Swedish communications regulator PTS has brought out the report commissioned by the government in January concerning possible exceptions to the municipal localisation principle. The general rule is borough councils may not run broadband operations outside their own municipal boundaries. One of the three alternatives that PTS has considered would let metro networks deploy infrastructure as far as 80 km from their own borough.
