Swiss associations Simsa, Swico to merge in June

Wednesday 16 May 2018 | 11:21 CET | News

Following earlier reports, Swiss associations Simsa and Swico have announced a plan to merge, in order to represent the interests of the ICT and online industries even more efficiently. Around 100 members of Simsa and 500 members of Swico will ratify the agreement on 18 June and the merger will officially become effective from 30 June and implemented in practice by the end of the year.

Simsa and Swico have been closely cooperating and using synergies in service offers for several years and now, the associations have decided to merge. The entity will still be constituted as an association and will operate under the name Swico. It will take over all the activities of Simsa and Swico and develop them further. Simsa will contribute its Code of Conduct Hosting and the Collaboration Framework, as well as educational programmes such as Web Project Manager. Swicowill contribute Issue Management, its Start-up-Programme and a product for occupational safety.

There will be a new expert committee created for the area of hosting, under the leadership of the CEO of Hostpoint Claudius Rollin, and a committee for web agencies, under the leadership of Imre Sinka, CEO of Dotpulse. Both committees will work independently within Swico with their own budgets on projects and issues, as with the other committees. The new Swico board will include current president of Simsa, Andrej Vckovski, CEO of Netcetera, as well as another person from the area of web agencies.
