Swiss govt to reconsider stake in Swisscom

The Swiss government will consider the state's 51 percent stake in Swisscom and whether continued state ownership is best for the economy, according to state secretary for economic affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch. In an interview with the paper NZZ, she responded to an OECD recommendation that the state privatise Swisscom. She said Swisscom is a well-run company, but the government needs to consider whether the operator is best positioned to react quickly and realise the potential of the digital economy and trends such as Industry 4.0.
