Swiss National Council rejects initiative to cancel TV, radio licence fee

The Swiss National Council has rejected the so-called No-Billag initiative calling for an end to the TV and radio licence fee, reported CEToday.ch. Even the alternative proposal by the SVP to limit the fee to CHF 200 was refused. The government majority sees the status quo as vital for providing a quality public service in a country with four official languages.
