Swiss operators agree on FTTH network standards

A roundtable organised by the Swiss federal communications office Bakom on the deployment of a FTTH fibre-optic network has proved successful, with the leading industry players agreeing on a single set of standards. They have agreed to adopt a multi-fibre model where several optical fibres are laid in each building, to avoid the risk of overlapping new networks being built. They have also agreed that access to the fibre-optic network should be available to all operators on an equal, non-discriminatory basis to ensure freedom of choice for end users.
