Swiss UPC Cablecom to compete with Netflix at under CHF 15

As Netflix prepares to start offering serices in Switzerland in September, UPC Cablecom is planning a counter-offensive, according to Netzwoche.ch. The operator is planning to bring in a monthly flat rate subscription for feature films, drama series/serials and documentaries before the end of the year, it said. Spokesman Marc Maurer gave confirmation to Tages-Anzeiger that UPC Cablecom has such plans in the pipeline, it said, adding that it plans to charge less than CHF 15.00 for the service. The final price depends on what Netflix decides to charge in Switzerland.
