Swisscom deploys G.fast technology for FTTS upgrades

Swisscom has started to deploy G.fast technology in its network from September of this year, following more than four years of testing with its technology partner Huawei. The technology will now be applied across Switzerland as part of the regular Fibre to the Street (FTTS) expansion, starting with 16-port hardware for the FTTS deployment and in 2017 G.fast will also be integrated into 48-port hardware as well as into the FTTB expansion. The technology allows Swisscom to provide broadband services up to 500 Mbps via its existing copper network. With FTTS, G.fast used for the last around 200
