Swisscom selects Huawei for FTTS network expansion

Swisscom has selected Huawei as supplier for its FTTS network expansion. Swisscom aims to provide 80 percent of all homes in Switzerland will ultra-high-speed broadband access by 2020 at the latest. It is focusing on FTTS in area away from major urban centres, and has now selected Huawei as the strategic partner and supplier for this FTTS expansion. Swisscom is laying fibre-optic cabling to within about 200 mt from buildings (Fibre to the Street, FTTS) and using the existing copper cables to cover the remaining distance.
