Swisscom, utilities can continue fibre deals with conditions

Swiss competition authority Weko will not prohibit the cooperation agreements of Swisscom with local utilities to deploy FTTH, but the companies risk sanctions if their projects inhibit competition on the infrastructure level. Weko did an in-depth analysis of Swisscom's agreements with utilities providers in Basel, Bern, Lucerne, St. Gallen and Zurich after the partners asked for Weko's approval of their contracts so they would enjoy a sanction-free contract period of up to 40 years.
