Switzerland opens major spectrum consultation

The Swiss federal communications department opened a major public consultation on mobile frequencies coming available in coming years. This includes GSM and UMTS licences expiring in 2013 and 2016 as well as spectrum from the digital dividend. The consultation period runs until 26 June and includes questions on such topics as technological development, market development, allocation procedures, frequency configuration and the environment. On the basis of an evaluation of the consultation, the department will submit proposals to regulator ComCom as to how to proceed. An invitation to tender
