Tablet market in MEA grew by 90% in 2012

Thursday 7 March 2013 | 10:56 CET | News
The overall Middle East and Africa (MEA) tablet market grew by 90 percent year-on-year in 2012, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC). The reasons included cheaper tablet entrants, reduced prices by vendors and rising consumer demand. Increasing interest in tablets as an educational tool will ensure further strong growth throughout the MEA region. Currently, tablets are used predominantly for entertainment, said Victoria Mendes, a research analyst with Personal Computing, Systems and Infrastructure Solutions at IDC.
