Tablet sales down over 12% to 38.7 mln in Q2 - IDC

Worldwide tablet shipments declined 12.3 percent year-on-year to 38.7 million units in the second quarter, as vendors started to reshape their product lines and consumers held off on purchases, according to the latest update from IDC. The three months to end-June saw Android-based systems continue to dominate, with a 65 percent share, followed by iOS with 26 percent and Windows with the remaining 9 percent. However, the report said there were signs that champions of the Android OS have begun to offer Windows-based products, hedging against the decline of Android slates, which nonetheless
