Tablet shipments grow 11% to 49.3 mln units in Q2 - IDC

The worldwide tablet grew 11 percent to 49.3 million units in the second quarter, compared to the year-earlier period, according to IDC. Although shipments declined by 1.5 percent from the first quarter, IDC expects the market to experience positive but slower growth this year than in 2013. The market is still being affected by the rise of large-screen smartphones and longer than anticipated ownership cycles. The market's slowdown is also being impacted by a slow adoption by enterprise customers, but this is expected to turn around in the second half as more enterprise-specific offerings
