Tanzania mulls ending taxes on TV decoders

The Tanzanian government is considering scrapping taxes on TV decoders to make the gadgets more affordable to its people, the Guardian reported. Tanzanian deputy ICT minister Januari Makamba made the statement to over 100 people from Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries. He said that after switching off the analogue system, many people are left out without access to information as they failed to meet the cost of TV decoders, particularly people living outside major cities.
