Tanzanian government says subscriber must only hold one SIM per operator

The Tanzanian government has directed mobile phone users to own only one SIM card per telecommunication firm, instead of possessing several SIMs from the same service provider. Deputy ICT minister Atashasta Ndiyite denied that the government intends to control ownership of SIM cards during biometric registration, scheduled to start on 01 May. Nditiye admitted that it has ordered all mobile subscribers to re-register their SIMs by biometric (fingerprint) process.
