Tanzanian mobile operators take concerted action over unregistered SIMs and fraud

Tanzanian mobile network operators have entered a collaborative agreement to jointly fight fraud caused by unfaithful agents or customers. Airtel, Halotel, Tigo, TTCL, Smile, Vodacom and Zantel said action will include blacklisting devices, IMEI and NIN that have been identified as posing a fraud risk or have been linked to fraudulent activities. All operators will blacklist them unless advised otherwise by the industry regulator, TCRA.
