TD-SCDMA smartphone sales overtake WCDMA, EV-DO

In China, sales of TD-SCDMA smartphones have overtaken WCDMA and CDMA 2000 EV-DO smartphone sales, mainly due to subsidies offered by TD-SCDMA operator China Mobile. In June, 11.71 million TD-SCDMA phones were sold in China, versus 9.51 million WCDMA units and 5.73 million EV-DO units, the Digitimes writes citing research from China-based Sino Market Research. Some 598 TD-SCDMA smartphone models were launched in H1, 2.1 times the number WCDMA smartphones and 5.3 times the number of EV-DO smartphones launched in the period.
