Telcel, Telmex, Telefonica slash interconnection prices

Mobile operators Telefonica Mexico, Telmex and Telcel have reached an agreement to cut interconnection prices applied for fixed-to-mobile voice calls. The agreement covers the 2011 – 2014 period, local newspaper El Universal reports. Under the calling party pays system, prices are expected to drop by 10 to 15 percent, from the current MXN 1 per minute to MXN 0.95 in 2011, MXN 0.86 in 2012, MXN 0.78 in 2013, and MXN 0.69 in 2014. Under the terms of the agreement, for the first time the per-second billing is established, starting with the second minute of a conversation.
