Telcel to cut interconnection fees by over 37%

Mexican mobile operator Telcel has published in Mexico's Official Gazette its new interconnection fee scheme for the next four years. The offer provides a progressive reduction in interconnection fees, by up to 37.24 percent in the 2011 -2014 period. Telcel has submitted its offer to all Mexican providers of fixed and mobile phone services as well as those in the long distance business. Eight cable companies and five fixed-line phone providers, including Telmex and Movistar, have already agreed to the new interconnection fees, Reuters reports, citing an anonymous Telcel source from the
