Tele Columbus offers new CI+ module without smart card

Thursday 19 November 2020 | 11:04 CET | News

German cable operator Tele Columbus said that it is offering the new CI+ module without a smart card to new Pyur customers who subscribe to HDTV and Premium TV packages. Previously, viewers have only been able to watch encrypted TV content by using a smart card. Customers had to insert the smart card into the CI+ module.

Now, a virtual smart card is already integrated in the new module. The new modules work regardless of network used by the customer. The module without smart cards is compatible with all TV sets that support the CI+ standard 1.4 or earlier standards.
