Telebras expects to set up JV with IslaLink in 2014

Brazilian state-owned telecommunications infrastructure provider Telebras is working to implement a shareholder agreement with IslaLink, an independent Spanish operator that trades in the Caribbean region, for the construction of an undersea cable connecting Brazil (Fortaleza) to Portugal (Lisbon), reports Teletime. The partnership announced in 2012 provided for the composition of a company with a 35 percent stake for Telebras and 45 percent stake for IslaLink, with the remaining 20 percent to be assigned to a third partner, probably an investment fund.
