Telecom infrastructure law blocked by Romania's Parliament

Thursday 23 February 2012 | 16:24 CET | News
Romania's Parliament did not pass the law on telecommunications infrastructure during a session held on 20 February, according to local telecom regulator Ancom. The law, part of efforts to improve broadband access, offers a range of ways to stimulate network development, and consequently may lead to improved broadband coverage. Measures include clarifying how operators can share existing infrastructure, such as towers or co-location. The law also sets guidelines for local governments working alongside operators on broadband projects, such as Bucharest's NetCity.
